No glue is needed, the pieces slot together. The front door opens so you can reach into the salon, then shuts again to keep the dust out. Built-in LEDs light the room from inside and come on with a touch switch, and the battery case hides in the back panel where nobody sees it.

The recommended age is simply a guideline, many children ages 6 to 8 have successfully built their book nooks and miniature dollhouses on their own, simply by following the instructions provided in the boxes. If your child is used to building with Legos, they'll manage without too much difficulty.
